13.5 weeks… WOW! Weeks are passing by like minutes!

As each week of this pregnancy keeps passing by, the reality that we are actually going to be parents is setting in deeper and deeper! Its exciting, scary, nerve racking, humbling, joyous and so many other emotions wrapped up into one! I couldn't ask for a better husband, father and companion to be experiencing this life change with… (love you hunny!) This time in my life has also made me realize how important family is, and how extremely lucky and blessed I am to have the family (both Brad and I's sides of the family) and friends that I have… . Everyone has been more comforting, supportive and loving than I could've ever imagined! I have so many people praying for us and the growing munchkin, people asking if there is ANYTHING they can do for us, and just people doing thoughful things I could never ask for anyone to do! To give you an example, my amazing Aunt Debbi sent us a wonderful package of stuff for the baby… including clothes, a blanket and toy. They are so adorable (see the picture I posted). The wonderful gesture made my day and put a smile on my face! God has seriously blessed me and my growing family sooo much!!!

On a different note, i was starting to read about when you should start putting together your baby registry, and from what I have heard… anytime now I could get started on the registry (and maybe wait to finish until we know what the sex of the baby is!) What I was looking for is any mommas out there that could give us some advice on the kinds of things you recommend to put on the registry. What you DID register for that you are glad you have, what you DIDN'T register for that you wish you would have, and maybe even things you registered for that you never use or don't find helpful. Its so overwhelming that I am trying to figure out where to even start!!! HELP! One thing in particular that I was wondering about is about baby monitors. I am seeing everywhere these new live video monitors. I was curious if anyone has one of these and if it is even worth the money (they don't seem to be real cheap) or if traditional monitors work just as well!

Well, that's all I got for now… but I will keep you all posted as Munchkin kirsch keeps growing!

PS. I'm sure some of you are wondering when you will get to see the baby bump pics… but I am kinda waiting until it actually looks like a baby bump and not just that I have had a few too many pieces of bowls of icecream! hehe

  1. alright, i'll bite! here's a quick list off the top of my head that i find essential:
-nursing cover-up (i didn't get one until quinn was about 7 months old and i kicked myself for not having one sooner)
-baby bjorn (i'm too dense/awkward to get a wrap to work for me, so i love the bjorn, but other moms i know swear by the moby wrap)
-only get a few bottles. maybe three different types. your baby will have a preference, and there's no way to know what it'll be until s/he has a chance to try a couple! definitely try not to buy 15 of one type before babe has given a few a shot.
-onesies. LOTS of onesies. i'm partial to carter brand. the gerber onesies run about a size small and the texture of their cotton isn't as soft as carters. carters has a little stretch, too, so i feel like my babies can wear one size for a longer period of time, even as they grow.
-white noise machine/fan/something so it's not too silent when baby's trying to sleep.
-re: monitor. we have a tiny house, so only use one if the babes are inside and we're outside, but i think the regular ol' sound monitor works just fine. the ones with a screen seem a little overkill to me, but at the same time, i sometimes wish i could see what those crazy kids are up to without opening their door. :) take your pic!
    -burp clothes. about a million.
-pampers newborn diapers. soooo soft. i love these. i'm always happy to splurge on diapers for the newest of new; then i get real and buy cheapos later on (luvs). or cloth. ooooh, do cloth! they're so cute! we do cloth during the day, and i highly recommend it. we use the bumgenius brand.
-bouncy seat/swing/something to set the wee babe into. you have dogs, right? the swing might be your best bet so babe can be elevated off the floor, away from them just a bit. it's just nice to have somewhere to plop a baby once in a while. :) i don't know that you need one of everything, but with d, we had only a bouncy seat and i often wished for a swing, too.
-big, lightweight blankets for swaddling. my mom and i hit the fabric store and we bought a yard of a few different flannels. these made the perfect sized blanket for wrapping q and d up. the soft flannels are still d's favorite, even though we don't swaddle her anymore.
-breast pump. definitely splurge on this one. don't go cheap. i recommend the medela double pump. register for a couple of boxes of bags, while you're at it. you'll use them--especially if you plan to go back to work while still nursing.
-halo sleep sacks. LOVED these for my babies when they were so new and it was still cold outside. they zip from the bottom up, which makes nighttime diaper changes SO much easier.

alright, i'm going to stop with this. but i hope you find this to be more helpful than overwhelming! HAPPY REGISTERING!!! i remember being freaked out by the options, too. if you have a new mom nearby you, ask her to come with. :)
